Background and Aim: Surgical bone level probing is the most precise method for the deter-mination of bone level regeneration in regenerative therapy but due to the aggressive and dam-aging nature of this procedure. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the precision and accuracy of bone probing measurement as a non-surgical method to determine bone level changes. Materials and Methods: In this analytic- comparative study, 22 maxillary molars and premo-lars in patients with chronic periodontitis participated. An acrylic resin stent was made for the bone probing depth (BPD) measurements, surgical bone level measurements as well as proper orientation of probe of each sample. The mesial, distal, mid-buccal and mid-palatal aspects of each tooth were measured. Results: Differences between surgical bone probing and bone probing depth measurements in different surfaces of messiobuccal, mid buccal, disto buccal and mid palatal were 0.09±0.74, 0.068±1.01, 0.24±0.11 and 0.28±0.88, respectively, which were not statistically significant (P<0.05), however, there was positive coefficient of correlation in all surfaces (Y=0.97). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that, regardless of probing surface, type of tooth and the presence of intrabony defects, there is a minimal difference between BPD and SBL and probing depth (PB) measurement can be a reliable method to estimate bone level regenera-tion following periodontal treatment and to replace surgical bone level (SBL) procedure. Proteomic analysis of gingival tissue and alveolar bone during alveolar bone healing.

Bone tissue regeneration is orchestrated by the surrounding supporting tissues and involves the build-up of osteogenic cells, which orchestrate remodeling/healing through the expression of numerous mediators and signaling molecules. Periodontal regeneration models have proven useful for studying the interaction and communication between alveolar bone and supporting soft tissue. We applied a qua...

the effect of functional/notional approach on the proficiency level of efl learners and its evaluation through functional test

in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...

exploring motivation and english test preparation strategies of iranian pre-university candidates during and at the end of test preparation period for konkur examination

the current study aimed at investigating the relationship between motivation and test preparation strategies (tpss) used by iranian pre-university students in their preparation period for the university entrance exam (uee). due to the importance of uee in iran, this study also attempted to show its impact on these two important variables. to this end, 100 pre-university students in an iranian p...

Level of Evidence in the Archives of Bone and Joint Surgery Journal

Introduction: In the field of orthopedic surgery, highly impact journals like Journal of Bone and Surgery (JBJS-Am) and Clinical orthopedics and Related Research (CORR) publishing the LOE for their manuscript. JBJS-Am started to publish the level of evidence (LOE) for all manuscript since 2013. Results:310 articles were reviewed. Country of origin for these, were twelve different countries incl...

Histological Comparison of Effectiveness of Low Doses of Doxycyclineand Atorvastatin on gingival Inflammation and Alveolar Bone Loss in Experimental Model of Periodontitis in Rats

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of low dose doxycycline and atorvastatin on gingival inflammation and alveolar bone loss in an experimental model of periodontitis in rats. Methods: Forty male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into four study groups as follows: (I) experimental periodontitis control, (II) rats with periodontitis treated with low dose atorvastatin...
